Feasting season is well under way. This seemingly endless time of sweet temptations begins with Halloween candy lasting even beyond the New Year with Super Bowl party treats and Valentine’s Day chocolates. There are many factors that urge us to over eat during the Fall and Winter seasons.

On average Americans tend to gain between 1 and 2 pounds of permanent weight during the holiday seasons. Learning to make healthy choices, manage stress and making time for exercise can help offset those pesky extra pounds. Join one of Cleveland Clinic Florida's expert nutritionists in our live web chat, where you can ask her how to control and limit calories during the holiday season. She can also provide great nutrition tips and portion control advice.

The Bariatric and Metabolic Institute and Section of Minimally Invasive Surgery treats patients who want to achieve weight loss through bariatric surgery, as well as patients with gastrointestinal conditions. Cleveland Clinic Florida bariactic and general surgeon have a proven record of favorable outcomes which has ultimately resulted in the Institute being designated a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and Surgical Review Corporation.

Cleveland Clinic Florida has a non-surgical weight-loss program. This program is open to anyone over the age of 18 who is interested in losing weight. The program will not only provide participants with a dietary plan for weight loss but will also provide tools for effective psychological behavior modification.
Before the participant can enter the weight loss program, medical clearance needs to be obtained either from the participant’s own Primary Care Physician (PCP) or the program's PCP. The "Weight Loss Medical Evaluation and Clearance" form must be completed by the participant’s own PCP and reviewed by the program's PCP before the participant can schedule the initial appointment with the psychologist and dietitian.
